Subject: DME# 0 261 200 021, can I chip?

I was wanting to order the JC chip and was going to confirm that Icould install one so I removed my DME. I pulled the covers off and all I saw was the back of PCB's. Should I have to remove one of the PCB panels themselves to install a chip or do I need to get a newer DME?
