Date Posted: 20:26:06 04/03/13 Wed The Commission on Population re-aligns its program to the whims and caprices of the current president. The past President GMA focussed more on the natural FP while Pnoy emphasizes on the promotion of responsible parenthood and FP. Pnoy's thrust aims to provide info and services on all FP methods which should be readily available, accessible, and appropriate. Public health and responsible parenthood form a part of pnoy's commitment to the Philippine society that would manifest good governance. Popcom has had been implementing RP programs and went further to expand its program covering FP methods (both natural and artificial) in 2011. From Jan - Dec. 2011, here are some milestones that Popcom had accomplished: *292,015 couples were oriented on RP-FP through the conduct of baranggay classes in areas identified by DSWD's Pantawid Pamilya program, and this includes the food-poor areas in the country. * Baranggay Service Point Officers (BSPO's) , a brain-child of Popcom, took active participation by way of contributing to the Universal Health Care program of DOH Community Health Teams, working under the umbrella of the Aquino Health Agenda.
