Subject: A Plea for Loverboy! Author: Nikia [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 17:20:19 03/08/03 Sat I have not only nominated Loverboy to Canada's Walk of Fame AGAIN, but I have also sent a plea to the Walk through the site on their behalf. I could ALMOST accept the excuse that "their time will come". However when I see that Bryan Adams was inducted in the Walk's first year in 1998, then Kim Mitchell and The Tragically Hip get inducted last year (don't get me wrong, I DO believe they deserve their spot on the Walk as well), I get angry and HAVE to question WHY Loverboy has NOT been inducted YET! Looking back on some old newspaper articles from 1981, it clearly suggests (to me anyway) that it was NOT Bryan Adams, but Loverboy who became an International success story first. It was Loverboy who literally PAVED the way for our Canadian artists to follow down that same road to International stardom. A trend which is on going today. Yet, the Walk seems to have had NO problem inducting those who have ridden on the coat tails of Loverboy's success but seems to have forgotten, let alone decide to HONOUR the band that had started it all!! How fair is THAT?!?! That is why I am URGING all fans once again, to not only nominate them again, but to PLEASE send a plea to the Walk of Fame for Loverboy's rightful spot! Maybe, just maybe if the Board members see enough pleas (or protests!!), they will finally honour Loverboy with a star on our Walk! After all, it IS LONG overdue!
