Greetings! I had the opportunity to watch the boys twice in the last 2 weeks…Here is the concert review for the Benton County Fair, Oregon….
Pros:
The boys played more songs this time (Turn, kid, prissy, lady, working, its over, get l, jump, its your life, hot, and lovin……I would have really enjoyed it if they would have played: Heaven in your eyes…Dangerous….Big Picture….Don’t let go….Love will rise again….Steal the Thunder…This could be the night….Destruction….
The sound was much better in Corvallis than it was in Hillsboro…Mike’s voice was excellent…He wore a headband, black pants/shirt and a red shirt over the black shirt…
Spider was incredible….great bass solo…..
Wonderful energy………!!!
Cons:
Terrible crowd….Much different than the Hillsboro crowd….The boys came out and about 15 out of probably 1,000 people were on their feet and into it!…The first 4 rows were sectioned off and reserved…I could not get us up front…But boy, we traveled 2 hours to see the band and the crowd was really strange…I kept walking around and many of the audience were---well—Jerry Springer types….not all though---it was just a bit different…
One of the people sitting (on a mat) behind us asked one of the TRUE loverboy fans to sit down (she is in our group)…She was pissed, and I was not there to help….
By the end of the show, the boys had this crowd into it! This shows wonderful staying power…the ability to win over a crowd that appeared to be composed of less than true Loverboy fans….
Many in our group compared the concert to the Clark County Fair (WA) concert in 1995 (I believe) and mentioned that they preferred the Clark show….They mentioned that the beat seemed a step slower and a couple of times the songs were off (whatever this means)…
Overall,
We need to figure out a way to get these guys a record deal…This is the time! I have often wondered if the bands name has been a pro/con….Growing up in Portland, people would as me (as I am a male) why I would ever like Loverboy….As a matter of fact, I received my share of poor comments…But I am a true fan and will always be!
Cheers! Eric :)
