Herb Chasan asks, what programs should the town cut that are taxing us to death [MetroWest Daily News, Dec. 28]?

Let's see where do we want to start cutting ... hmmmm ... gee ....

How about the adult ESL program plus that has tens of hundreds in the program that is supported by federal and state tax dollars and has probably 70 percent or more people in the program that are illegal, getting subsidized on us, the taxpayers when they shouldn't be getting any money at all?

You asked, I told you what could be cut, but the brain-dead politicians, selectmen and liberal, save-the-whales, free-money people in the town continue to let that program run. All programs that service illegal aliens should be stopped or have the countries of origin pay their bills, meaning health, school, legal, housing, everything. Savings? Millions upon millions.

I wrote to state Rep. Chris Walsh about either sponsoring a bill or helping to write a bill to do this back in November, haven't heard a peep.

The town of Framingham continues to ignore the cost that the town accrues for dealing with the illegal alien problem. We even have one school, Woodrow Wilson, that has an 80 percent immigrant rate for one particular group of people, Brazilians. I can bet they weren't all born here either. The towns thinks this is the 9-11 building 7 in your face. Apparently they think we failed math in thinking how much this is costing us.

So Herb, you asked I told you.

I thought I made it pretty simple that the COUNTRIES OF ORIGIN should pay their bills, not the taxpayers of Massachusetts. A lot of these Illegals lie and say they have no money and send thousands back to their countries of origin. I really don't think this is to much to ask for America to do. Nobody is being put out here. I really think the fact that our elderly are really being hit hard here by the taxes that keep going up because of these illegals being here. You put Illegals ahead of Americans is really a disservice to the older American taxpayers. This request isn't hateful or illogical, it is common sense.

The only one who stood on topic here so far beside the Rizoli's was Abraham. The others just spouted their hate and nonsense and fact that they want to stifle free speech with Stalinist purges of those who speak the truth. So the question begs, is it really wrong to ask the countries of origins of these illegals to pay their bills? I think it is a great idea. The ADULT ESL program is in violation of Federal Immigration laws about aiding and abetting illegals in their stay in America. It is also in violation of the 1996 Welfare Reform act. NO ILLEGALS should be getting free programs off the taxpayers lam. For ANY American Citizen to want this is beyond me.If these illegals were all Muslims you sixpointed star people would be fuming about paying for them. You would all have letters to the editor just as I have written.« less

I could not resist adding my own opinion to this mix. I am Jim and Joe's older brother and no longer live in Framingham although I do have a sentimental attachment to it after having grown up there. I do not agree with all their ideas but looking at your comments here, I just have to laugh. None of you are addressing the issue that is being discussed here. Typically, all of you are avoiding the issue that Mr Chasan initially commented on. You just revert to your personal attacks and therefore take the actual issue here out of play. One of my main interests is history. What you are all doing here is what is always done when people do not want to confront something uncomfortable. Either debate the issue or just keep the really worthless comments for use at a cocktail party or something similar. I myself enjoy reading different opinions on a subject because only there can we actually find some common ground. Most of you are finding no ground at all.« less

Abraham....you good with paying for it all?
Thats the main point! Why should WE pay for it, we didn't ask the illegals to come here.
You come to our country and want US to pay your bills.....could I get the same benefits in their country?

Although I think that I get the letter writer's message, it's a pretty disjointed screed. It must be an odd form of Christianity that the letter writer follows that would allow him to deny sick people care and little kids education. I don't see how doing either would benefit society - little kids on the streets instead of getting educated and sick people dying in the streets.

Where to cut >>> FPD, FDPW, labor costs, insurance costs, pensions.

Hey guys and gals, what is the topic here?
These responses are typical of the trolls who KNOW what I said is true but don't want to admit to it so they go everywhere but discuss the issue at large. I thought the personal attacks stopped by going to the new postings with names, but apparently the MWDN thinks people calling people Nazis and attacking their grammar and making personal nibs is a great thing. I stand by what I have written. Those of you who have history a bit messed up would know ... » more

When someone explicitly idolizes Hitler and his works, including genocidal racism, then he's fair game for accusations of being a Nazi. Especially in a response to a post in which he demonstrates his Hitleresque xenophobia.

So why are you whining about being called a Nazi, you Nazi?

Notice how most of you avoid the issue....it's the cost of dealing with the illegals.
Should WE the people have to pay for them while American citizens are lacking many services?
In regards to our cable show you don't have to watch it but we got some good ones coming up in January..
I can see we must be doing a good job people are taking notice.

I guess I can understand why Joe Rizoli doesn't like illegals, but what has he got against whales?

I am always amused when those that complain about immigrants who don't speak English also complain about ESL programs. It's even funnier when the complainers are themselves descendants of immigrants.

Back around 100 years ago the Italians were the ethnic group that the "real" Americans loved to hate, and they complained about the Italian immigrants' resistance to learning English.

In fact, 1913 was the year where a record high of Italian citizens immigrated to the United States. The immigrants became a big component of the organized labor supply in America, comprising a large segment of the labor force in mining, textiles, and clothing manufacturing. Italians were actually the largest immigrant population to work in the mines.

Italian workers were called derogatory names (you know what they are) and were the usually only workers who would work along side black people, which cemented their position at the bottom of the ethnic hierarchy.

Of course, those who ignore (or rewrite) history will not understand this.« less

There is nothing amusing about the hate campaign of self-admitted Nazis.

@Marie J Taylor 100% Correct Marie. And I say it is even funnier when those right wing extremists who complain about the English issue themselves speak HORRENDOUS English grammar and cannot write or speak a cogent well thought out grammatically correct sentence if God came down and asked them to.

Discrimination is a mental illness......during the past few years the Rizolies have aired hundreds of hours of shows making jokes of the 6 million dead jews during WW2...denying the genocide ever happened. Making jokes about the mutilated bodies and how it could never happen and how the Germans simply wanted to protect themselves and the those they murdered from disease. There is somthing really sick about how cable fees we all pay can support such insanity and discrimination.....Another aspect of their sorry lives is the discrimination of Brazilians and other immigrants. The same kind of discrimination vocied against southern and eastern european peoples during the 1800s and 1900s, People from euorpe did not learn to speak english thru magic...it took 1 or 2 generations for millions of people to assimulate...this kind of discrimination is old, its sick and at some point the leadership of different organizations and the town need to address it.« less

@Lloyd Kaye Thank you Lloyd. PLEASE do not stop being a voice of sanity among the insane of our nation and even in our town. Mostly, our town is comprised I believe of philosophically humane people but there are those in our midsts that need to be spoken loudly over. We cannot let hate prevail. You and all of us who are like-minded dare I say liberals or progressives must never give up, we must not falter, we must not fail. Nothing in this life will be perfect but much can be made better. As JFK said in part: "Our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our future. And we are all mortal." Thank you again, Lloyd, for your always smart analysis!!« less
