Kathy,

We are close in age. Growing up the enema was very popular with moms.

Did you know your friends got enemas?

It made me nervous knowing one was going to be given by a mom.

When playing at friends house and her mom told us to go outside I knew an enema was going be given.

Neighbor mom seemed to give an enema often. She had four kids. So one of them was on the table often getting the red bulb syringe used on them.

Few times her mom would come to where we were playing and tell us to either be nice playing and no trouble or go outside. While she was telling us this she had the red enema bulb in her hand squeezing it in and out making that air sound.

Few times she would tell us to play nice and no running around when she had a towel and jar of vaseline in her hand.

Then she would tell one of them to come with her.

The one she told to come with her never complained. We could hear her talking to him...while making the warm soapy water in the kitchen sink.

Moms gave the enema for health reasons. No over the counter junk was given.
Didnt run to the doctor or ER like they do these days.
