I've had an enema/colonic where Epsom Salt was added to the solution. It triggered a very quick expulsion and cleansing effect. I was glad that subsequent rinses toned down the effects to avoid future quick toileting needs.

I've read that Glauber Salts can trigger similar laxative effects, especially when taken orally. I also saw an article that said they are used in Equine treatments as a laxative and for colic.

Both are potentially problematic in enema use if the solution isn't carefully concocted in safe portions. They can definitely affect electrolytes.
