Until age 11 - my parents made the decision to stop monitoring my bowels and stop forcing things up my smellhole literally weeks short of when my periods started. Which is unusual for my family - setting aside the events of recent years, my sister was still being done (with suppositories, rectal exams etc) throughout her teens, and the same is true of my maternal cousins (I overheard one of them being done by her mother when she was 16 or 17).
