Kathy and others, growing up in the 50's and 60's were interesting and challenging at times. Many of us were taught, and cared for, with different expectations and procedures that aren't likely used today.

Those rubber tools, whether for enemas or douching, were very common and adorned most bathrooms as they were in a position to deliver the contents into our bodies. My sisters and I were frequent recipients, as were mom and dad. Grandma was the likely instigator, as well as our family's doctors.

Our friends were also very familiar with the enema bulbs or bags. The topic of enemas was also common in our discussions and play time involving doctor/nurse patient scenarios. Each of us had stories as we were often on the receiving end.

I've told the story before, of a neighbor boy who was caught spying on his sister as she received an enema. When dad got home, all of us kids could hear his punishment as he was spanked with the razor strop and then given an enema as his sister's watched. Inasmuch as we all were living in an apartment building, it was obviously a topic for quite some time. Even some of our moms were aware of his transgression. We all became far more cautious in our discussions.
