#IRCbar OP newsletter 3/25/01
In the past few months we have experienced some growth of users in channel, followed by a decrease in users.
I feel as long as we've been established on Awesomechat, our user base during prime time should currently be
around 20 users now. Insead, we are averaging around 11-12, and thats counting the 3 bots.
I Gave you Chan OPs for 3 reasons:
#1 was because you chatted a lot,
#2 because you were in channel often,
#3 you basically know the commands and aren't abusive to users.
#4 you can maintain the channel in a non-abusive atmosphere to others.
Myself and a few others have noticed that one or more of these reasons are beginning to be overlooked. Especially
#1 and #2, currently the most important ones.
Next Monday, 4/2, I will be out of town until 4/8. Sunshinie will be tied up often in the next month with her job.
This leaves Droolin basically as the only Sop active in channel. I have a concern that not only the few new regulars
we've been getting may leave, but any new visitors may not want to stay. I do not want this to happen and is the reason
for this newsletter.
If you wish to keep your @, I am expecting everyone to pick up their share of these responsibilities and help get the
channel going again. If you don't feel you can, then tell myself, or one of the other Sop's and we can remove your access,
and you can drop in and chat when you feel like it. This is especially true for those who have an O-line on either jammin
or cruisin, because getting and keeping users was one of the main responsibilities for the o-line, aside from keeping the
servers connected.
We can have the best channel on Awesomechat if we put a little work into it again. We are still one of the busiest channels,
and I don't want to see the user count drop any lower.
Buffy was added to the channel OP list today, most of you know her and know she's qualified, also she adds a different time
zone for our OP list, which I will try to add some others in different time zones as they join our channel as regulars.
I am going to do away with the Half-Op option. Sunshinie, myself and Droolin will review those who currently have that status
and decide on promoting them to full Aop, or dropping back to user.
