Subject: Hi

Hi,

I have been busy since returning home from college for the summer. I helped finish planting and we are waiting to start haying season. We could use some rain, it is a little dry here. We bought an additional 1500 acres of land a while back, of which 320 acres are irrigated. We are thinking about turning on the water. We have always dry farmed, but we may try irrigating.

Last Friday my grandpa and I participated in a tractor trek. We met in another near by town and drove our tractors 15 miles to another town where they were having Dairy Days celebrations. Upon arrival we lined up and participated in their parade, it was fun. They also had various ag displays, food vendors, kid races, and that night a street dance. They crowned a queen, a little Mr. Farmer/Rancher and a little Miss Farmer/Rancher. After the parade I had something to eat, looked at some of the displays and visited with some old friends and opponents from my sports playing days. I had a nice chat with Coach Carr, their basketball coach. He once told me, he knew he couldn't stop me, so he just wanted to slow me down. We had a fun chat.

Tomorrow, Friday, grandpa and I are going on another tractor trek. We have participated in this trek several times. It is sponsored by a local radio station, and we drive about 25 miles with numerous stops in small towns along the way. We are looking forward to the trek.

I am playing baseball again in our rec league. Right now I am playing first base. We had our first game this week, winning 4-3. I hit a single, a double and struck out. It was great to get the win on opening day. It doesn't matter whether it is little league, rec league or the major leagues, there is something special about the first game of the season.

Reggie is sure happy I have been home, he follows me everywhere. He wants to come with me every where I go. That is okay, but I do like quit time with Kaylee - just her and me.

A couple days Grandpa and I helped out at the Threshing Grounds helping get the old presses ready. They created an old time newspaper office with several working antigue presses. The museum hosted a group of students from my college who used the presses to print books and then bind them. I guess everything went well and everyone had a great time and learning experience.

I have been spending time with Kaylee and old friends, hanging out, been to the swimming pool and enjoying summer.
