Subject: We Are Division Tourney Champs, Too!!

We are so excited and our college is, too!!

Last week our college basketball team attended our
Division Tournament we were assigned to play in, and
at the end of the tournament we were surprised to walk
away with a Championship Title because we were not the
favored to win it and media had picked us to finish a
second or third place. Isn't it nice to surprise the
media and drive them crazy with wrong pre-tournament
predictions?

Because of our end of the regular season record 26-4
and we finished second place in our conference we
became Seed #2 and drew a "bye" and did't have to play
our first game until Thursday night, March 3, 2016.

Us and the rest of the team that has seniors and juniors
on with us prepared for this tournament and game playing,
but this being second year for Mark, Drew, Jake and Sean
and first year for Cody & Hunter all of us were nervous
and somewhat scared. We thought once we got to playing,
despite all the noise during the game that would be, we
decided to put our trust in what our coaches taught us
all season long, what they did to prepare us to play in
this tournament and HAVE SOME FUN besides.

Thursday, March 3, 2016:

We won a hard-fought battle of a game by a score of 73-69.
Besides the seniors and juniors on the team contributing,
we contributed the following points:

Drew scored 16 points, including two 3-point baskets, three
2-point baskets and 4 free throws. He grabbed down 6 rebounds which helped us during the game to win later on.

Mark scored 13 points, including three 3-point baskets, two
2-point baskets and stole the ball two times.

Jake scored 8 points, including four 2-point baskets. He
had 2 rebounds.

Sean scored 6 points, including three 2-point baskets.

Cody scored 5 points, including two 2-point baskets and
one free throw.

Hunter scored 5 points, including two 2-point baskets and
one free throw.

The win increased our overall season record to 27-4.

We played our second game of the tournament on Friday,
March 4, 2016. This was a game we got behind in a few
times and had to battle back. Infact, the team we were
playing was ahead of 65-63 with seconds counting down
they scored and Mark got the basketball after they scored
and took off to drive the full length of the court and
layed up the ball to tie the score 65-65 as time expired.

(Mark): I sure said a quick "THANK YOU GOD" prayer, and
the rest of the team and coaches I found out after the game
did, too!

(Drew): I knew Mark was going to get the ball into the hoop
in time but, I was nervous that we were going to have to
play overtime, and playing gets a player and team more then
butterflies in their stomachs.

(Sean): We won in the the overtime keeping our heads and
listening to our coaches. Boy, did we celebrate in the locker, after celebrating with our fans on the floor.

(Jake): Sean, you forgot to tell the final score we won
by 81-75. WHEW! Another close game! During the game I
chipped in 8 points, including three 2-pointers, and two
free throws. I grabbed one rebound to help out.

(Cody): I contributed 5 points to the winning score, two
2-pointers and 1 free throw.

(Hunter): I chipped in 7 points, including three 2-point
baskets, and one free throw.

(Mark): I was able to score 18 points, four 3-pointers,
two 2 pointers and 2 free throws. I stole the ball two
times and the last time I did we sure needed me to!

(Drew): I scored 12 points to help the cause, including
one 3-point basket, six 2-pointers, and 3 free throws.
I grabbed 5 rebounds.

The win gave us an overall season record now 28-4. It was
great celebrating the victory and advancing to play in
the next day Championship game.

(Mark): Yeah it was fun alright BUT, our coaches called
for an early morning Saturday practice next day, and we
had to haul our butts out of bed early and dress for this
practice even before we had breakfast. What was the coaches
thinking? I guess so rest of the day we could try to relax
and get focused and ready to play the Championship Game.

Saturday, March 5, 2016 we played for a Division Championship Title, our team of seniors, juniors,
sophomores and two freshmen.

It was awesome! Oh, all the games we played were carried
on TV and radio for anyone to watch and listen to. The
game see-sawed back and forth and our team and the team
we played tried to really be careful not to make too many
mistakes, commit fouls, BUT we made sure our team had a
"GOOD TIME" and to our surprise our team was not too nervous
in our playing, which resulted us winning the Championship
Game 79-74. We contributed the following points to our
winning score:

Mark scored 22 points, including four 3-point baskets,
six 2-pointers, and four free throws. I stole the ball
3 times, and grabbed one rebound.

Drew scored 16 points, including two 3-pointers, four
2-pointers and 2 free throws. I grabbed 4 rebounds and
had one steal for our team.

Sean scored 9 points, including three 2-pointers and
3 free throws. Had 2 steals of the basketball.

Jake scored 6 points, including three 2-point baskets
and one rebound and had one steal of the basketball.

Hunter scored two 3-pointers. I played alot, just didn't score more points.

Cody scored one 3-point basket.

We won a really neat trophy for our college, took turns
holding it, kissing it, and having photos taken with it;
besides other photos taken as a team, with parents, girlfriends and fans. Even signed a few autograph programs.

The seniors and juniors on the team took care of the media
coverage afterwards, but we were proud to be included with
some being interviewed, too.

We did alot of celebrating with our fans, parents, girlfriends, coaches and everyone else who believed
in us. Lots of hooping it up in the locker room and
some wet towel snapping (LOL) and a great Celebration
Meal at the resturant later on! We continued to stay
overnite at the hotel and returned back to college
on late Sunday afternoon. Man, were we greeted by a
"WELCOME BACK RALLY" on campus.

We finish our season with an overall recod of 29-4,
including winning first place in a Holiday Tournament
and Second Place in our Conference.

WE want to again say "CONGRATULATIONS" to Tanner and
his College Team winning a Division Championship Title
and how proud we all are of them, and we apologize for
stealing a little "thunder away" by Us and our team
winning a Championship Title, too. We didn't expect it,
but when a Team & Players put their minds together to
try to achieve a goal that some will say we couldn't do
it, then we like to prove those people and teams wrong!

THANK YOU EVERYONE for cheering us on this basketball
season. It means alot to us!
