Made you feel special, noticed, cared about? I've read too many similar stories about this dip to not believe there's something to them. So they made some really naive mistakes. So did I. So did you. That doesn't mean that they weren't used and taken advantage of. Give them a break! Who's to say that you, or someone you know and love (a daughter, maybe?) wouldn't have done the same or felt the same?
