god you guys- use some initiative! it really isn't that hard! Basically there are 4 ways of Knowing- Reason,Intuition, Language/meaning and Perception.
There are 8 areas of knowledge- Maths, History, Human Sciences, Languages/literature, Natural sciences, Ethics and Aesthetics.
Now apply them to this quote and issues involved!
Think about Religion- i.e. the acceptance of a belief as truth because there is no proof. then again different religions have different beliefs i.e. 1 God, many Gods. How come people believe if there are so many contradictory beliefs and no scientific/rational proof?
think about things u were told as a kid- babies from stalks, father xmnas etc.- u believed them cos u couldnt prove it not to be true!
Think about the language used to persuade people to believe stuff- propaganda/indoctrination? eg. Rekigious cults persuade followers to do stuff- cyanide incident in 1970s.
Belief comes in when truth runs out! - FUNDAMENTAL!
eg.- astronomers could hear 2 other planets behind venus in 80s so ASSUMED they were there. patterns in maths- assumption. Hope it helped! IB Rules (not!)
