The poem, which begins, "The woman was old and ragged and gray,
and bent by the chill of the winter;s day... " is called "Somebody's Mother" and can be found in the book. The Best Loved Poems of the American People.
It has always been one of my favorites since I was a girl in the '50s. I read it to my libarary classes each winter or near Mother's Day.
