First of all, I want to bring up something regarding the fact that 6o years ago, it was not uncommon for a 12 year old to own .22 caliber rifles! Guns!! The only restriction was that you had to be able to pay for it.
So. Explain to me why in the 1940's we did not have these school shootings, these horror stories of kids getting their heads blown off to scare us into submission, or why crime was NOTHING like it was today.
Also, I would like to bring up the subject of gun control in Britain. That is in Europe, where Brian Jacques lives, for those of you in Palm Beach County, FL.
Britain has the MOST SEVERE "gun control" laws in the world.
How severe? So severe that even members of the British Olympic Shooting Team are NOT ALLOWED PISTOLS.
Heaven for you gun controllers, right? Well guess what the results of your favorite policy is?
Alas, violent crime and robberies have sky-rocketed. Gunfights between rival gangs have caused MAJOR changes in British policing. Did you know that in some places constables now patrol in PAIRS armed with SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOLS? They are backed up by ARMED-RESPONSE VEHICLES STOCKED WITH SUBMACHINEGUNS.
Aaaah, what a wonderful world it is with gun control!
It becomes CLEAR that when guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns. (Thanks, NRA, pretty catchy there).
The bottom line is that a firearm is an inanimate, lifeless machine. It cannot do anything on its own but lie in one place until time and oxidation destroys it. If you want to ban guns, then you might as well ban knives, because they are a common weapon used, too.
Aw, heck, you might as well ban rope, to keep people from hanging themselves in depression! Oh what the hell, you might as well ban everything that could POSSIBLY, in your wildest dreams, hurt you.
