i once thought
that keeping her was all i needed
i once believed
that my feelings were useful
now i realize
they all burn away someday
all i have
is my relationship with Christ
everything else
is just a minor detail in a picture
and if what i do
is not to move ahead
is not to expand this love
is not to give this gift
i am useless
i am nothing
i deserve nothing
so keep my emo quips
and keep my militant chants
if it is not to his glory
it is nothing
and if i hear another word
designed to bring brothers and sisters down
i will pray
for the destruction of language
so we can start over
and only invent words for love
strip everything away
only you and God
what else is anything?
let it go.
