The One Thing I Never Thought Would Happen - Matthew John Moser

Apparently there were
record low temperatures last night.
I didn't notice. The (you)
backseat (know you) of
my Ford wasn't very
(shouldn't have) cold. You carried a blanket out.
On the wire you told me
(nothing) you didn't know
just
what
to
say. Later on a message board ("How Long Does It Take To Fall In Love?) I
chose
to write one sentence:
"Time isn't a factor." I'd still
never ever
say that to you.
Could we co it again? Sometime
(it's funny)
I'd like to
(how people - if they knew - would)
have the night break
(think of sex)
record lows.

I never thought I'd write about you

You "fit" me.

I doubt any good will come of
this. I couldn't care less.
Your beautiful hair
("my little sister") grazed my face
and I loved every (is what you used to call yourself) second.
Than...

"I'm going to kiss you unless you
tell me not to." (Wait.) "You have until I could from..."

"...five..."

"...four..."

"...three..."

"...two..."

"...one."

Everything will never be so simple again. Funny,
I wouldn't dream
of taking it back.
