Lipstick stained cigarette butts in the ashtray,
gray smoke plumes, cancer, womb rebellion.
I never wanted this. My displeasure still runs deep.
Emptied styrofoam coffee cups collecting at my feet,
safety from antagonism, hand warmth, familiarity.
I did not ask for this. My fingers are still anesthetized.
Paperback books strewn across the disordered floor,
wisdom, time killers, conversation pieces.
I do not deserve this. The constant ache behind my eyes lingers.

One week of solace. God, please.
Life in the absence of disorder, just peace.

I need to revise.
To quit. Quit.
To continue.
