Nymah stared at the gold egg lying in front of her. She heard Loki on her shoulder answer a question from the lovely queen, and looked up to see the grumbling golden flit. "Thank you." She breathed. "I...we thank you more than I can say..."
As the egg started to rock, Nymah stared as first a wing, then a head emerged from the golden shell, and a chirrup of triumph emerged from the throat of the golden hatchling. Taking the gold in both hands, Nymah looked at her, meeting her eyes. “Raksha.” She spoke the word emphatically, imprinting it in the flit’s mind. “Your name is Raksha.”
Turning to the other girl, Nymah reached out her hand to shake. “I wish you well, Ati.” She said, smiling ruefully. “When Raksha lays, you are always welcome to an egg.” She bowed to the mother flit, then nodded to her owner, and went off, Raksha spread out on both shoulders and Loki nestling in her cloak.
