Trag took the egg reverantly, feeling the slight stirrings of life beneath its fragile shell. He rose carefully and cradled the egg against his chest as Baki looked at it, cheeping out his two marks worth as Trag took first one careful step, and then the other, making his painfully-slow way back to the Weyr. He could imagine what his "mother" would say; that he shouldn't have even gotten the first one, and he certainly wasn't going to be allowed to keep this one. But he HAD to keep it! He thought on how to convince her to let him keep it, but his only true hope was that she would understand a little boy's fancy with the pretty things. Wonder what color it'll be? That was his only thought now. It was large; it might well be a bronze! That thought made him grin, but he continued to pick his way back with a care that left him traveling at a painstakingly slow speed.
