Lily gasped as the gold egg cracked slowly, revealing the newborn hatchling inside. As the little queen’s mind entered hers, she gasped, and scooped the tiny one up. She held her gently, feeding her until she could eat no more. “Kali.” She said at last. “You are Kali.” The hatchling chirped her sleepy agreement, before falling into deep slumber. Holding her precious burden, Lily bowed to Dippy, and grinned to Sitara. “When she lays, you will be guaranteed a chance for the golden egg.”
She got onto Venieth’s neck, tucking Kali into her jacket, and, followed by five other fire-lizards, they flew off to the barracks.
