Author: Lamia, Phoenix,and G'ffin/Mezeth
Subject: Food?

Four beings entered the Lower Caverns in a silent sort of joy, in much contrast to the loud, banging chatter of the newly Impressed. Only one of the four beings was draconic, a handsome blue with a dark, luminous hide and bright eyes. The hatchling crooned gently, and headbutted his rider, the only human boy of the group, in small of the back. The boy, seemingly in his fourteenth turn, doubled over but caught himself, laughing. He gently stroked the soft eye-ridge, and turned his smile up to the elder of the two left, a sixteen-turn-old girl holding a two-turn-old baby in her arms. She winked back, and looked about to comment, but the baby in her arms spoke up first.

“Bwuepewwy!” She shrieked happily, which to her elder siblings meant something like, “He’s a very pretty blue, G’ffin!” The elder girl laughed.

“I agree with Phoenix, congrats.” She winked with a growing smile. “He’s a nice shade, and a good size. Mezeth is his name, right G’ffin?”

“Yeah, Lamia.” G’ffin said with a nod, blinking behind the glasses his sister had invented for him out of a pair of flight-goggles. “Although, I’m not sure I like the sound of my name like that much...” He frowned. “I’ve never been one for the hard ‘g’, I guess...”

“Well, you know Daddy never expected us to be riders,” Lamia said with a shrug. “He didn’t think it would ever be anything but Griffin. I mean, it’s not unheard of to change your name if you want, but...” she shrugged.

“I’ll think about it, I guess,” G’ffin—or, for now—sighed, putting a hand on his beloved’s snout. The dragonling crooned.

[I think your name has promise,] the blueling voiced, steering the party over to a small table. G’ffin relayed the message as they all sat down, and Phoe nodded.

“Senenon!” she said, which probably meant, “I wonder what’s going on with uncle S’non. He seemed in a hurry.”

“I think he said something about Loveth nearing her cycle,” Lamia answered, remembering their uncle’s green dragon, which had taken an almost completely silver turn in the last few days. Mezeth gave a low hum.

“That would mean...” G’ffin frowned, remembering a scroll he’d read on dragons. “He’s referring to Loveth’s flight cycle. You know, how a dragon mates. Which would mean... oh.” G’ffin gave a slightly embarrassed smile. “I guess it’s kind of a personal time for him.”

Lamia nodded, giving a small laugh. “Hey, ever thought of when Mezeth’s old enough?” she asked. “Have your eye on any greenriders around?” As the eldest, it was of course her job to tease the baby brother.

G’ffin looked away, his ears red. “No,” he answered a bit too quickly, clearly embarrassed at the prospect of becoming someone’s potential mate at his age. “I think I’ll wait for that.”

“Aneogenar,” Phoe said, which probably meant, “You mean you’ll wait as long as Mezeth wants to!” Of course, the baby didn’t know the full truth of the matter, but she knew that when dragons flew, people got new boyfriends and girlfriends.

Lamia laughed softly, but Mezeth turned to G’ffin. [Better be ready when I am, G’ffin! C’mon, you gotta like at least one of our clutchmates...]

G’ffin pointedly ignored the comment. “So... when d’you think we’ll finally meet Uncle R’ko?”

Lamia shrugged. “Dunno. Soon, I hope... S’non said that their spat was starting to end...”

((Leaving off here so that R’ko and Valor CAN come onto the scene...))
