Subject: Golden Oldies
In reply to: T'rtatus(Ojeth) 's message, "Crazy old Maurice, hmm? Crazy old Maurice..." on 19:59:13 07/20/05 Wed

Rinali patted T’rtatus’s hand affectionately, taking another sip of her drink. “I understand, I really do. But I think that maybe we have to be cruel to be kind on this one – if we convince Halzay to face her fear head-on, maybe they can sort it out. S’peer may not have the best record, but I trust him, perhaps more than I should as an impartial Weyrwoman.” She didn’t elaborate on this, and she wasn’t going to – her strange, not-quite-friendship with S’peer stemmed from G’rein’s implicit trust of him. She had long thought of G’rein as a foster-son, due to his close friendship with her own son, W’ntyr, and it had been S’peer he had cried for when he was lying in the Healer’s wing after being assaulted. In Rinali’s opinion, if a man could be trusted not to take advantage of a terrified greenrider, he was good.

Of course, this theory came into dispute where Halzay was concerned, but Rinali privately admitted that riders were never in their right minds during flights, even if she could never condone his behaviour.

Rinali couldn’t care less. Lilith pointedly directed this comment at her rider as well as at Ojeth, making sure the retired Weyrwoman heard it. After all, I am known for my kindness to… the queen paused, her voice filling with smugness, and a glance sent Ojeth’s way, making him rise to the challenge: …Lesser creatures…

((Sorry it’s short! I’m a little out of time!))
