Elly nodded her agreement with his words, but secretly her mind took a different turn. As he said, he and the other weyrbrats had �each other�, but once some had Impressed, the one who hadn�t would be left behind. The others would be busy with dragons, and weyrling lessons, and all that kind of thing. When they did have spare time, they would be tired. If Shadow didn�t want to Impress, he could find himself on his own pretty quickly. Elly would be there, but still�she couldn�t yet tell how much he liked her. He was probably just being polite.

[You could get a watchwher.] She offered, considering the different career paths open to them. Having a wher was not for her � to be in the darkness all the time was not her idea of fun. It would mean enclosed spaces�not something she liked.

[Or be a dolphineer�]
