My son had been mean to his sister for some time, but it was not until I introduced petticoat punishment that his behaviour started to improve. He'd recently started secondary school and was just starting to get interested in girls. To be made to dress as one, then, was highly embarrassing for him. I seem to recall the first time I petticoat punished him I made him wear a pair of his sister's pink nylon knickers, white tights, a lacy petticoat and a little velvet dress. If I remember correctly he had his bottom smacked in front of his sister too. I don't think the punishment would have been quite so effective earlier. He and his sister used to play all sorts of dress up games when they were younger, so he wouldn't have really thought of wearing such an outfit as a punishment.
