My father had left us and refused any child support. He took off out of state. My older brother Charles was a handful, always in trouble and finally became a guest of the state juvenile penal system. I came home after the last day of school in 1961. My mom was waiting for me. She explained that she needed to work and needed me tto stay home and look after my younger brother Randy and my baby sister Pamela. She also told me she talked to a neighbor and wanted me to obey what she was about to tell me. She then pulled some dresses out of a bag that was sitting beside her. She told me to get undressed to my undies and then put one of the dresses on me. She told me I was to wrear girls clothes when I wasn't in school and it was to make sure that I didn't "run the streets" getting into trouble like Charlkes had done. At first it seemed strange but I actually learned to like wearing the dresses. A year later (age 12) i was even going outside in them when my mom was home. I played with a girl across the street, she knew I was a boy but thought it was "COOL" that I wore dresses and panties. At 13 I even had a fancy dress party where I wore a fancy party dress with a petticoat. My Aunt found out and started calling me a sissy, but I didn't care. I also had a boy friend who also like to wear dresses and he wore several of mine. By the time I was 17 I had a closet full of dresses. Today I am in my 60s and still wear skirts and an occasional dress. I learned a lot about girls growing up this way. I also learned to accept people of all persuasions as well. I would recommend that all mothers teach their sons that it is okay to war dresses and skirts so that they to would learn how the other half of the gender spectrum lives.
