One of my dad's employees, this guy named Bennie, came by this morning to drop off some work related stuff. Afterwards my dad told me that he was supposed to have gotten it done during the week. This guy has worked for my dad since I was 8 (I'm 14 now) and is a total asshole. He got married last month and he brought his new step-daughter with him this morning when he came to our house, a girl named Ashley I kind of know already from school who is 11 or 12 and kind of cute but very shy.

Ashley is very tall and kind of awkward and was playing with our cat in the living room while her step-father was BSing my dad and trying to impress him like he always does. She was half under a little table she had crawled under to reach the cat and when she got up she knocked this round scented glass candle off the table onto the carpet. Nothing spilled, nothing broke, but Bennie made her apologize to my dad, who said it was nothing, and went on this big lecture about how they were guests in our house and should behave properly.

This candle has a practically round base with just a tiny flat bit and falls down all the time, so it really wasn't a big deal. Then about 5 minutes later the poor girl knocked the candle over again, and Bennie went ballistic. He made her take off all of her clothes and bring him a hairbrush from her purse that was obviously just for spanking her and he gave her a dozen strokes on each side of her bottom, super hard, and she was crying and hiccuping by the time he was done. She was mortified.

Even though I kind of liked watching it because I have always been interested in spankings, I felt sorry for Ashley, and my dad was trying hard to behave like a girl getting spanked like that was a normal thing (which around here it kind of is for some kids but not usually so blatantly or in front of strangers) and not interfere in family business. After she got dressed again she just sat in the corner looking at the floor for maybe another 15 minutes before they left.

I was really happy when our cat went over and rubbed itself against her legs and she reached out to pet it. I didn't think there was any way to say anything to her in front of Bennie without making things worse for her.
