In case your children should ever look, "made ... of the finest hardwoods" should definitely make their bottoms tingle, at least upon a bit of reflection. It sounds as though Mr. H. will live to a ripe old age, perhaps surviving to converse with the next generation. My mother's yardsticks rarely endured beyond an encounter with my rear. One neighbor was famous for having an "unbreakable" yardstick. It was colored red, appropriately enough. I dreaded the thought that somehow she would share it with my mom. It does sound as though Mr. H. in your house is indestructible, at least, from those one sided bare bottom conversations!

OMG did we loathe the "Fuller Brush Salesman" and his black suitcase filled with samples! I still have my rectangular Fuller hairbrush. Looks much smaller than I remember it! Colored yellow and made of some very hard plastic, despite its diminutive size what a spanking it can deliver. I totally agree that any bottom it collides with is going to be much wiser afterwards. The smarts that will be implanted will linger and inspire much wisdom as to how to avoid future meetings!

Do you or your sibs have any memories of the guys who went door to door selling those Fuller brush hairbrushes? I don't remember the guys but I have this vivid memory of the inside of the sample suitcase. Row after row of really scary looking hairbrushes were displayed. I remember really worrying that they would all end up on my mother's dresser! Did your mom use hers for brushing hair?
