The models I have spoken to have in the majority started smoking in the 2000's.
The spectrum for starting is from 11-18.

The early starters are family. The 13-14 are peer.
14+ is a combination of family, peer or inquisition.

The "oldest" model I have spoken to Mel- she started at 18, and that would have been the early to mid 90's
