Hidden Desires (Writingforfunman) - A Review

Part One - The Author

The author is active on Smoking Fetish Fiction SubReddit.

Part Two - Hidden Desires

The story first appeared on Reddit, before being republished as part of Vol. 148 of the Noble Leaf Library. Two people stuck in the same car in a traffic jam, both like the same thing, but one is about to make an unexpected discovery about themselves.

Part Three - Comments

The first thing to acknowledge is Nick, the Noble Leaf Librarian's decision to edit the story, a task he likened to a 'nightmare'. What it suggests is that the author is better storyteller than writer. While the stories short length precludes much in the way of character development the author does get the key points across, most notably that the couple, the unnamed narrator and his girlfriend Claire have a fairly new relationship. The other thing and what makes this story of interest is the narrators discovery that he has the smoking fetish at the 'turns me on' level. It's clear from how the character reacts that he genuinely didn't know he had it prior to this point. Claire's reaction to this discovery is amusement and delight.

I'd class this story as simple, unpretentious, but full of implications for later exploration.

Recommended.
