In reply to: Curious 's message, "Smoking Fetish Character Relationships: Leader-Follower Pairs - An Essay" on 17:03:51 11/28/25 Fri

Here is another example of the kinds of dynamics that can be found in Non-Smoking Leader-Follower pairs, as with the previous non-smoking examples the story involves drinking. Like the first it's a 'message' story designed to scare the reader into not drinking.

The stories pair is made up of 'S', the leader and 'C' the follower. Unlike the first example in the essay the narrative perspective is that of the follower, which makes it similar to 'Cigarettes Get The Man'.

This similarity is emphasised in that the follower feels gratitude towards the leader for having rescued her from friendlessness.

But it's a relationship under strain, the followers 'drinking persona' is mouthy, quick to anger, indiscriminate in her targets and quick to regret.

This means that while the leader does care about the follower and tries to ensure that things go smoothly it's not an easy task. Thus the relationship has a degree of instability built into it.

It's from these elements that the stories endgame is built, words are said, a choice is made and everything changes.

It is therefore an example of another outcome of such relationships, a permanent rupture between the two.
