Subject: Just did a head count of the Library

For anyone interested…

711 items. 709 if you don't count the stuff I'm hosting for The Flying Pen, since it's technically not part of the Library.

Flirting with 2.45GB of content.

About 7 months worth of stuff in the filler pool.

With new stories I can probably stretch that to 8 or 9.

NSC 128 has three new stories this month, yay.

We'll see where we are by year's end I guess. I'll be retiring from this gig this year, so if anyone wants to keep things going, or start something new, talk to me. I'll probably keep my hand in to some extent, and I'm certainly sticking around to keep this place going.

I kicked things off in 2005, so I might even stick around and do this for another year yet, so 2025…20 years.

If I keep NSC going until '25, they won't be monthly releases, people aren't writing much these days, at least stuff that isn't smut, or AI-generated.

I mean, things were looking good for 2019, then the Wuhan Flu happened, I think that's part of what killed it, just as tobacco taxes are killing smoking.

I have a couple of finished stories I'm sitting on in case things get desperate, I'd like to see NSC out with a full volume.

As for other authors, there are a couple of new faces, but we seem to have lost many veteran authors, Blackbladder is still seen around the traps, I have no idea what has happened to S, and pretty much everyone else from years past is MIA.

Part of me is still wondering what the hell happened, as Library maintenance was almost like a full-time job for a while. Part of me is now wondering what next.

So what next? Is there stuff you want me to do, or what?

I've had a bit of fun doing those preservations, and I'm happy to create story compo volumes or stand-alones. Is there a story or story arc that deserves eyeballs on it? Do people actually read any of the older volumes of NSC? A lot of people out there still think SSN is the duck's guts. With over 1800 stories, there are enough stories to read one a day for almost the next 5 years. when the filler pool does run dry, that'll be closer to five and a half years. Heh. Cool.

I just looked at the TeamNobleLeaf stats page, it's going quite well, well inside the top 10K teams, would have been awesome if other people had of joined. When I was in hospital recently, the nurses often wheeled around these portable workstations, there'd be heaps of processing power right there, and I reckon the Hospital where I was at probably had dozens of them. Didn't smell smoke on a single nurse though. Lovely ladies, all of them.

Yeah, so I'm going to bed, Australia Day today. STRAYA!

Nick
