G'day Satin,

Good to hear from you again my friend.

I certainly see your point of view, it's one that others have echoed, and I can sympathize, writing doesn't come easily for some.

But my thinking is, everyone has a thinking mind, and a creative spark, even if they think they don't, they simply have to try. It doesn't have to be an epic novel, just a few paragraphs that tells a story. It doesn't even have to be original, just different enough to make it that little bit unique. And inspiration can be drawn from anywhere, real life, other stories, movies, memories, even dreams. Everyone who dreams has to have an imagination. When you read a story, you build that world inside your head. Writing is really no different, all you have to do is try. Let it out.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

You never never know, if you never never go.

Start with a place, put a person there, see where it takes you. It's what I do, I've got the world, the character, and I just let them do thier own thing, which can lead to some interesting conclusions.

A blonde in a red dress, whose car has broken down.
A brunette in business attire, after a meeting.
A woman with raven hair walking down a street at night.
A redhead in t-shirt and shorts, watching as the world ends.

It has to start somewhere.

Why is the blonde dressed that way, was she coming or going? Where does the brunette work, and in what capacity? Where is raven-haired woman going and why? What is the redhead going to do? And do they smoke? What? Why? And if not, will they start, relapse, or indulge? Where do they go, or go back to? Who are they? How did they come to be there?

Each starting point has potential, all that is required is for the imagination to be unleashed. And if one can speak, one can write. It just takes time.

Don't fear failure. Success brings rewards, failure teaches lessons.

Do not give up hope, and the sun will shine on you.

Nick.

Post Scriptum: Someone bloody write a Christmas story! It's Christmas, well, it will be. T'is the season of giving, and sometimes the best gifts, are the ones people didn't know they need.
