Subject: So the Library contains 660 items as of the 'Lucky Cigarette' essay, but what's next?

Folks,

Forgot to post about this yesterday, but yeah, we hit this milestone, nothing important by any means, but it's something.

660 items, 2.4 gigs of mostly text and images and a couple of MP3s.

There is just under 14 volumes worth of filler for NSC left, so I'm guessing 15 or 16 more volumes there, about 675 items with new fiction. Kind of hoping to hit 700 before I bow out, but I dunno that we'll get there.

Dunno what will happen after I retire, I'll try and keep the cloud accounts active, and I'll probably contribute a few things if they appear and I have time. But that's over a year away at this point. 2025.

But seriously, other people will have to step up, or things will just stop, a thing I'm not ready to accept. I don't want it to end, but I can't keep it going without assistance. I've done my part in building a Library that as far as I know is without peer. I'll keep my word about seeing it through, and there's a part of me that is ready to walk away knowing I've done enough, but there's a part of me that doesn't want it to end, sorry, repeating myself. To me, the library will always feel unfinished.

Thinking about it, given what I said yesterday in that other thread, my circumstances have changed too much for me to continue as I have been. It'll be 20 years, two decades of service to this wonderful, necessary community. It's my hope that I'll be leaving things in good hands. No way will I be walking away, just taking a step back, a well-earned rest. A vacation in my head, where I'll go, what I'll do, not even I know, but I will send you lot postcards, and maybe, just maybe, I won't undertake that journey alone. Heheheh, I'm being a bit silly, sorry.

Nick
