I think the real issue is, does one exact swing fit everyone, or can worthy tenets of NG be mixed and matched with what works for individuals. I found the latter to work very well for me.

Another point probably worthy of discussion (and this board may have already done so) is this: Why does the NG swing look so vastly different in the hands of a pro or low-handicapper than even a mid handicapper? A conventional swing obviously does, too, but there all sorts of different actions and methods are being used. If all the same mechanics are allegedly being performed by those who do NG, you would think the swings would at least be similar. I saw Sandy Lyle with his "NG" swing on TV, and to be brutally honest it doesn't look much if at all different from the swing he has always used. IF Sandy Lyle is doing NG, then what about Justin Leonard? Leonard is more single-axis in his setup than Lyle, and no more rotational, especially with the swing changes he has made this year trying to stay behind the ball better. What about Tom Lehman? High hands at address, low hands at top of backswing, at impact he's out over an extremely bent left knee. That's why he has been such a great iron player and ballstriker all these years ... because he keeps the face square to the target line much longer than most.

I don't think one has to swing exactly like Moe, or Todd Graves, or anybody else, to reap benefits from a single-axis based golf swing. If NG is to really get rolling, I believe they must allow CIs to apply the very general indisputable aspects of a SA swing, then customize to fit different body types and ability levels. After all, in what other sport is there only ONE acceptable way to perform an athletic movement? If it's a paradigm shift they are after, it will never happen with blind rigidity.
