The "ask the CI" section is for asking questions on how to better your Natural Golf game. It is not a place where you tell us what we are doing wrong. You can post what you think in the "open discussion" section of the website.

The grass cutting drill is not "my" drill, but it is the most effective drill at learning a proper swinging action that I have ever seen in golf. The results gotten by people who do this drill far surpass any drill that I have ever seen. All fundamentals of NG are followed while doing this drill, and if you made a video of the drill you would see a motion that has the club moving almost identically to how Moe Norman's club moves during the golf swing. This drill helps make the path of swing, and clubface angle correct at impact. What more could anybody want? The club doesn't know if it is being swung by a NGer or conventional golfer. The proper mechanics of how a club swings in NG is very similar to how the club moves in a conventional swing, except that in the NG swing we stay much closer to a single plane swing because of our setup. The action of the club in NG, especially the clubface is virtually identical to what is desired by most conventional golfers, with the difference being that in Natural Golf if you let the club swing you will get the desired motion, and in conventional golf you must manipulate the club with hand and body motion to get the desired result..

What Moe says and actually does are quite often two different things when it comes to hitting a golf ball. What a person feels he is doing in swinging a golf club, very often doesn't turn out to be what he actually is doing if you look at a video of that person's swing. The swing we are teaching will produce a swing that is mechanically very close to the swing that Moe Norman actually makes. Of course different body types will look different in making that swing, but the action of the club in the swing will be virtually the same when done correctly. This can be backed up with the use of video.

I wish it was possible for me to give you a proper demonstration of the grass cutting drill, as I am certain that then you would understand the logic behind it. Words don't seem to do it for some people, and I understand that. If you are ever in South Florida please let me know as I would be happy to give you a demonstration and explain why we are teaching the way that we are.

Best of Luck;
Kirk Junge
