Subject: Swingweight question

This is a question for all you clubmakers out there. I am in the process of modifying my old clubs to NG. First, I extended the shafts by 1 inch (to satisfy lie requirements) then I put on 3 different types of grips (Longshot and Big Grips) on the 6, 7, 8 irons to test to find out which ones I like best. The clubs were originally at D-0 to D-1. Now they are at D-6, D-8, D-9. In looking at comparison studies of the swingweights of most good off-the-shelf irons, I found they were generally D-0 to D-3. So, question is, how does swingweight affect the swing and should I modify the club to bring it back down to the original D-0/D-1?

Thanks for your help.

DK
