Subject: A plea for civility and maturity

I recognize that I am inviting all manner of abuse with this message, but I am willing to risk it anyway.

Let me start by saying how useful this board used to be. Had it not been for this message board and some of the fine people who responded to my questions, I would never have adopted the NG swing last year. I generally found the discussions helpful and used some of the information to improve my own game. Which is exactly the reason I came to this board in the first place.

Now, however, the board seems to be filled with people posting messages that are nothing more than personal attacks and have very little to do with golf, much less NG. I know it's difficult sometimes to resist the temptation to respond to personal attacks, but I ask all of you to do so. It does nothing to further the purpose of this board, and instead will simply drive readers away.

I share the sentiment of many who have already left because they fail to see the utility of this board. Surely there are other forums for the sort of communication that has recently invaded this board. Please don't ruin this forum for the rest of us who come here seeking useful information.

Golf is a gentleman's game, and I suggest it applies to golf discussion forums as well. Please, let's all conduct ourselves as ladies and gentlemen.
