Subject: Absolute value

What Jon is doing is to attribute a logical (as in philosphy)absolute value to the idea of shooting par. Once he shoots a par, he is a par shooter. It makes no difference that he doesn't shoot par for 18 holes (total score).

It's a concept easier to understand from absolute moral values, in that once you cheat, you are a cheater. Once you lie, you are a liar. Once you murder, even though you may never kill again, you are a murderer.

So Jon is just saying that once you shoot par, you are a par shooter, even though you may never shoot par again in your life, because he assigns it an absolute value.

Of course, it flys in the face of convention in the golf world, but what the hey, it makes perfect sense to me!!
