Kirk always taught to release the way he does now. NG has incorporated what he and others were already teaching regarding release in the past. He never taught to keep the left arm straight past impact. He did teach to swing the right arm through towards the target after impact, while letting the left arm fold out of the way. Did you ever have a lesson from him?
