A SAD ANNOUNCEMENT AS OF 6 JULY 2000.

TOKSAVE: This forum has not been administered for some time. Those who created it mostly went back to PNG months ago. They now gave their permissions for this forum TO CLOSE. This is what they have told me to post on their behalf:

“Because we no longer have internet access to administer it, the No Glitches Forum was able to be destroyed pretty much by one person who has abused the right to free speech, and shown more disrespect to other human beings than we have ever before witnessed.

We might be able to find another administrator to deal with the destruction caused by this one foreigner, Bill White of Los Angeles, California. However we have not found someone who we felt shared our ideals. Also now there are other forums that can better serve the purpose.

In closing the No Glitches Forum we add links of all known alternative forums to this page.

Please go to these forums if you believe as we did that Papua New Guineans need the freedom of options.

No forum should be allowed to suppress and dictate what can be posted, particularly on political and student leaders, as Wantok Forum did in 1999.

Wantoks Forum has been known to abuse its power. Even if not used, the existence of other alterantive forums is like a check and balance on the abuse and control of information by only a single forum. Alterantive forums make the dominant forum more accountable than it would be if they did not exist. Notice how the glitches from Wantoks Forum suddenly disappeared after No Glitches was set up!

If anyone from the old days still peeks into here, we just want to say bikpela tenk yu tru for your support. Your participation really did showed that the internet can be used to create more transparency.

All of you really made a difference in helping take the potential of these PNG forums one step above the conservative Wantok Forum thinking.

Thank you Topaz and others for your information and debate. Please continue to inform people thrugh the internet.

We are happy to see the new Free Speech Forum II. Maybe it can take over where we left off.

We only advise that whenever an issue goes on too long like has happened with Bill White on No Glitches Forum, that you immediately set up another forum dedicated to that issue alone so that it does not fill up your main forum. Otherwise the one issue will destroy the variety of topics people usually like to see on a forum as Bill White did here.
