Subject: Former BU player Derrick Breland?

Breland, who is currently at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas, is rumored to have committed to Fordham. I'm not familiar with him, and was wondering if anyone could give their impressions on his game, his stint at BU, etc. Thanks.

I really liked him and was surprised and sorry to see him leave the team. Seemed like a nice kid as well as a good player. I'd heard that his reason for leaving was that he was told (or assumed) he'd always have to play behind Fitzgerald. He definately didn't view himself as a bench player. There was a lot of frustration that year as the team was clawing its way to a winning record after two bad years. If he could have stuck it out who knows what could have happened.
