I didn't realize he was such a skilled defensive player, but I was very intrigued by his package of offensive skills. Seldom do you see players with his size who are so comfortable on the perimeter, passing the ball,and see the floor well. I mean, many players call themselves "swingmen" or claim to have some kind of guard skills, but he's a kid whose perimeter game seems pretty legit.

Gaffney is a good sized 3 man as far as height is concerened. He is very, very weak physically. He does have good skills. However, it is important to realize that the only offers he had on the table were from DII Northeast Conference schools like Stonehill and Bentley.

Very good point but not quite true. From his coach, Tony Gaffney had late full offers from UNH, Maine, Lehigh and Lafayette and mounting interest from Rider, Albany, URI, Central Connecticut, Holy Cross, Ivy's and later inquiries from the Big East and others for next year. The D-II's (St. A's, Bentley, Stonehill and Assumption)hoped he'd slip through the cracks because he plays the whole game but some big performances before his high school season got scouting bureus attention, then he averaged a triple double (23, 12, 11 blocks and 7 assists) in leading Somerset out of nowhere to the South title. At 6'7", 185 he has to get stronger (Northfield Mount Hermon) whether at the 3/4 or the 2/3 but Coach Woolf staying, the A-10 probability and the quality school got him to verbally commit. Plus he's a good kid and he makes the big shot. NMH is virtually free and he can become a better student if he wants to study engineering, a tough major.
P.S.You want to see his little brother at point guard. Wow.
