There was an article in the globe today that said...ahem...this was a bigger move by BU to move on to bigger and better things, ie. specifically the A-10 if the Big East implosion happens. HMMMM.....new arena, 10 year commitment, BU thinking they are bigger than they are (even though I must admit, they should be bigger with all that money!!) The funniest thing about the article, is that the BU athletic official (unnamed of course) state BU wanted more for its academics.

Latest rumor mill has Larry Coker adamently against the switch to the ACC....and FSU backing out of the vote. Issues with knocking each other out of the BCS! If Miami stays, look for the Big East to still toss a few non-football schools, but to go after Louisville, E. Carolina and a few others to make their own conference championship game. Those two schools are ripe for the picking. Cincinatti is another. I actually could see all three going since they are unhappy with the C-USA. Only thing is that Lousiville and Cincy are not really "EAST" schools.

I agree that this 10-year extension (BTW, has anyone ever heard of an extension of this length?), plus the new arena, plus the declaration at the breakup dinner that BU is putting more resources into and emphasis on basketball, plus the upcoming shakeup in some of the bigger conferences, means that BU is serious about "getting more bang for its buck" from basketball, however that may play out.

Never heard of an extension of this length, at this level. I know big time conference coaches get extensions like these all the time.
