What happened to Torrey Thomas signing with Holy Cross as rivals.com and Hoop Scoop reported? I agree with the other posters that it is likely Fordham would hire an assistant like Pestos or Fred Hill. Over the weekend it was Whittenberg's to turn down. Why isn't DeCrease being mentioned here? He wants to return to NYC and has left Richmond hoping he can land somewhere in the city. I think DeCrease could get it done at Fordham. What about Mike Hopkins from Syracuse?

As a former rivals.com publisher, one of the things that bothered me the most about those other rivals sites is that such information (or misinformation) was published under a pseudonym or no name at all. Hence, there was no journalistic integrity or accountability on those sites, therefore no real sources at all.

Did rivals and Hoop Scoop provide such information via a real name or just another so-called "reporter" hiding behind anonymity?

Consider the sources, folks, if you can find them.

Don't denounce the guys at rivals. Russ Blake is the best in the business. Everyone knows and loves him. No one works harder or covers more events. High School, juco, prep school and AAU. Russ is extremely underpaid and some Division I program ought to hire him for his recruiting expertise. Brian Towney is young but, does an excellent job.
He covers Long Island, NYC, Westchester County and New Jersey extensively. Russ Blake ought to start his own publication like what Tom Konchalski does. Plus, if Russ prostituted himself in the mannner Konchalski does taking cash to get kids scholarships he would make a fortune. Nobody in scouting is more diligent than Russ Blake. Hey, why doesn't Jay Gomes get any pub on this website. He is another one of rivals great scouts.

You obviously don't know Tom Konchalski who is one of the nicest people in the world. He rates kid's and provides a service. Russ Blake is a great guy but he's no Tom Konchalski. Tom is not an AAU guy, he doesn't pawn kid's! He rates them. Get your facts straight!

Tom is one of the classiest people on the scene. And while he does provide a service, he also gets paid well for what he does. It's a job. I'm not trying to take the luster off what he does, but it is a job.

Russ Blake is not a pawn for AAU coaches. He is not affiliated with any AAU program. He calls them as he seems them, and is a pretty discrimating judge of talent.

Having known Tom for a "VERY" long time I beleive him to an extremely good judge of talent and a very good person. Linking his name to money grabbing is an insult he provides a service which he is paid for and he does it the proper way.

I wasn't implying that he was "money-grabbing", so don't put words in my mouth. I, too, know him quite well, and know that he is indeed a very good and decent person who tries to help people. But while it is a service, it is a job as well. Everyone has to make a living.

I don't know what your point is. Basically I am saying the exact same thing that you are.

Your Tom Konchalski comment is way out of line.

You didn't take in a thing I wrote, Crusaderman, so I'll reiterate.

My beef is with those so-called "writers" who don't present their own name, nor any sources for the information they provide. If the names you provide are the authors, and they listed such names in story bylines, then they aren't applicable to my complaint.

However, there are those that hide behind pseudonyms and pass along information nonetheless. Whereas there is no accountability for such information, here is where you need to consider such sources (or lack thereof).

I met a good number of rivals.com publishers, and we all worked hard on our respective sites. I won't say we were underpaid, however, because the bottom line is our sites didn't make a lot of money for the company. (We learned that online advertising seldom brings in heavy funds.)
