Subject: UA gets No. 4 seed princeton in round 1 at Syracuse

UA (probably seeded 15th) got number 4 Princeton in the first round of the NCAA LAX tourney. Princeton is probably the most favorable matchup for UA as they are a defensive oriented team...something that plays in the favor of UA, since we have a pretty good scoring D as well.

First-round game is at Princeton, not Syracuse. That is the next site where the winner will play. Only about a 3-hour drive from Albany. Hopefully, the Great Danes will bring some supporters.

Guys...r u sure about this. LAXPOWER, THE NCAA and UA say the game is at CUSE. All first round games are at cuse for the North Region, the rest are at Towson. ONLY THE WOMEN PLAY AT HOME. I think this is wrong.

If it is at '52 field, it will be a toughie. I was choosing between a sports communication internship and one school in my final was Princeton. '52 field is home of LAX for Princeton and seats I think 5-8k. Its built just for LAX and they pack the place!

My estimate is about 200-250 UAlbany fans were at Hartford (not the 'dozens' Singelais reported). The T-U says today the game is at Class of '52 Field, where PU draws about 2,500 to regular season games, and not at 30,000 seat Princeton Stadium.

Game time will be announced this afternoon

[> IT IS DEFINATELY AT PRINCETON---Just called a contact -- Dane96, 13:17:48 05/05/03 Mon

Ok, first the NCAA botched this whole thing last nite by redoing the draw because of some upset "old guard" teams. However, after calling my friend at Princeton who is the head of Athletic Communications, the game is officially at 52' field. The NCAA screwed up and had the early games not on the campus sites originally.

They rebuilt 52' field and it now seats 3k, but they can squeeze more in. If you guys have the opportunity (i have a final unfortunately) this is an awesome weekend trip.

Princeton, for those who haven't been, is a small quaint community. Palmer square is a nice little shopping area (Dane Pound...your wife would love it) with nice little old school pubs and restaurants. The school is absolutely gorgeous, and there is plenty for the kids to do around there. Carnegie lake is where the crew team bases it self, and its a goregous public access lake right behind campus.

It's about a 3 1/2 (w/ traffic) trip from Albany. I would expect a ton of the parents to be at this game since its 45 min from NYC. The best way to go from UA to beat traffic is to head down the thruway, but get off through NJ (not NY-WESTCHESTER ROUTE)and head down Rt. 17 through Paramus, which hooks up to I-80 which leads you to the NJ Turnpike or if there is traffic...ROUTE 1 and 9 (thats what its called). It's an easy straight shot!!! Princeton is right off RT 1 and 9 and there are a ton of quality hotels and motels that are reasonably priced and about 10 minutes from campus.

GO DANES!
