Subject: Spring sports trifecta

In men's lacrosse yesterday, Danes 14 - Siena 2.

In women's lacrosse (where the Danes record is 2-13), Danes 18 - Siena 5.

In softball, Danes 2- Siena 0 and Danes 6- Siena 5.

For some reason that I can't explain, we don't play them in baseball.

The reason why the two local programs haven't played is because Siena coach Tony Rossi is scared. He doesn't want to be embarrassed. It goes back to the theory that Siena thinks it is a no win situation for them. Interestingly, Rossi applied for the Albany job three years when Mueller was elevated to full-time. Why would someone who coached at Siena for over 30 years want to come over to our so-called "evil empire?" Why don't you give Rossi a call and find out?? Guess it shows the Great Danes' baseball program is gaining some credibility.

LOL. You are so right. Go to the SIENA BOARD and there is a string about recruiting. SIENAARCTECH says it best...UA has a "complete atheltic portfolio" and Siena needs to step it up to catch up!

Actually here is the full quote...its under the conference realignment string.

"The fact that backyard neighbor UAlbany has a very nice complete athletic portfolio, it is going to force Siena's hand to be agressive with an upgrade much sooner than later........even though the Dane hoop program is still in the very shallow end of the pool (their other sports are very prominent and successful) and has more financial resources to draw from. Thus, Siena's need to survive financially will be on the premise of moving forward and not staying put........or the question of staying D1 will arise! "
