UA has signed "1" JUCO(Brown Mackie) a 6'8" post player who is fairly athletic, out of a DII JUCO Conference where he was 1st team All Regional. He should help alleviate the rebounding nightmares that the Danes had last year and is expected to contribute right away. He will have 3 years of eligibility remaining.

Brown Mackie is the name of the school. The player's name is Jamal Hughes. He is from Edison HS in Rochester, was at Brown Mackie for two years, but redshirted one of them, thus the three years of remaining eligibility.

Wasn't there another JUCO that Albany was close to signing? Who's the one who got kicked off his team for drugs?

Yes, there was a player named J. P. Mills, from a JUCO in Texas. One of the local TV stations (Fox 23 - the most unreliable one) reported that he had given Coach Brown a verbal, and also that he had been dismissed from his JUCO team at the very end of the season (his statistics indicated that he played 27 games for them) for some unreported drug violation. The current story is that UAlbany has withdrawn its scholarship offer to this player.
