It's on the wire at ESPN.com. Keith Cieplick officially named the new head women's basketball coach at Syracuse.

Cieplicki to Syracuse

I'm very sad to see him go, but as always, I wish him the best of luck. I hope Syracuse tears through anyone they play...except Vermont. There were two former UVM Lady Cat coaches in the Sweet 16 this year...I hope it's three next year.

Now, let's go out and find ourselves the next Keith Cieplicki.

Part of me is happy to see him go, and see Vermont women's hoop in a temporary state of disarray....the other part realizes what he has done for the conference and carrying on the tradition of Vermont women's hoops. Vermont certainly has a string of successful D-1 coaches that have moved on. Here's hoping that the Lady Cats can find another solid coach.

I'm sure besides the obvious($), Cieplicki looked at the current landscape in AE and figured that he might not get an oppurtunity like this for a while. Obviously Maine is stacked right now, and Boston U is also an up and coming program. Add to that Albany and Bing U (both seem to be pretty committed to increasing the level of their men's and women's hoop programs), and you can see where it could have been a challenge for him to maintain the success that Vermont has had recently.
